Announcements

  • Thank you to everyone who made Friday evening's Trunk or Treat a success! Special congratulations to our trunk contest winners: the Tabors (the scariest!) the Elys (the grossest!) the Reeds (the funniest!) and the Billings (the most creative!)

  • Session has been pushed back to November 10, to avoid Election Day.

Opening Sentences

Leader: I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

People: My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.

Leader: O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

People: I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Confession and Assurance of Pardon

Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we have done to displease you. Forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light, and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Scripture Reading and Sermon: Acts 14 - Resisting Power

Profession of Faith

Question: What is your only comfort in life and death?

Answer: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in

death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins

with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the

devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for him.
