Hymn My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less

Opening Prayer

Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you; and then use us, we pray, as you will, but always to your glory and the welfare of your people, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sermon The Quick, the Dead, and the Coronavirus

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Guided Intercessory Prayer

This prayer might be long, or it might be short. Don’t worry about that. Focus on telling your Heavenly Father about the many needs that you’re aware of, in your life and in the world. This prayer can be broken into three major sections:

Pray for the church! What are you grateful for about the church, both as a universal body and as our local congregation of New Dublin? What does the church need? What does our congregation need? Tell God about those things. Pray for church leaders, and for churches that are suffering or facing any kind of hardship.

Pray for the world! What are you grateful for about the world? What does the world need? Pray for nations that are facing any kind of hardship, including war, sickness, injustice, or food insecurity. Pray for our particular nation, and for our leaders and specific needs as a country.

Finally, pray for our own community! What are you grateful for about your own family, friends, and town? What needs are you aware of? Feel free to pray for people by name and specific circumstances. Consider reaching out to them after worship as well. Close by reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

Hymn My Shepherd Will Supply My Need

Closing Prayer

Grant, O Lord Jesus, that the ears which have heard the voice of your songs may be closed to the voice of dispute; that the eyes which have seen your great love may also behold your blessed hope; that the tongues which have sung your praise may speak the truth in love; and that the feet which have walked in your courts may walk in the region of light. Glory to you for your inexpressible gift. Amen.
