O Lord our God, you are always more ready to bestow your good gifts upon us than we are to seek them. You are more willing to give than we desire or deserve. Help us so to seek that we may truly find, so to ask that we may joyfully receive, so to knock that the door of your mercy may be opened for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Scripture Reading: Acts 13
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Guided Intercessory Prayer
This prayer might be long, or it might be short. Don’t worry about that. Focus on telling your Heavenly Father about the many needs that you’re aware of, in your life and in the world. This prayer can be broken into four major sections:
Pray for the church! What are you grateful for about the church, both as a universal body and as our local congregation of New Dublin? What does the church need? What does our congregation need? Tell God about those things. Pray for church leaders, and for churches that are suffering or facing any kind of hardship.
Pray for the world! What are you grateful for about the world? What does the world need? Pray for nations that are facing any kind of hardship, including war, sickness, injustice, or food insecurity. Pray for our particular nation, taking into account our recent shared grief and unrest, and for our leaders and specific needs as a country. Pray for those affected by Hurricane Delta.
Finally, pray for our own community! What are you grateful for about your own family, friends, and town? What needs are you aware of? Keep in mind what's gone out in the prayer chain this week. Feel free to pray for people by name and specific circumstances. Consider reaching out to them after worship as well.

Everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being: You have made us for yourself, so that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. Give us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your will, no weakness keep us from doing it; that in your light we may see light clearly, and in your service find perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
