"Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you." Acts 13:38

Hymn:

Opening Prayer:

Almighty God, through your only Son you overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life. Grant that we who celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, may, through the renewing power of your Spirit, arise from the death of sin to the life of righteousness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Acts 13:13-39

Sermon:

Apostle's Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Guided Intercessory Prayer

This prayer might be long, or it might be short. Don’t worry about that. Focus on telling your Heavenly Father about the many needs that you’re aware of, in your life and in the world. This prayer can be broken into four major sections:

  1. Pray for the church! What are you grateful for about the church, both as a universal body and as our local congregation of New Dublin? What does the church need? What does our congregation need? Tell God about those things. Pray for church leaders, and for churches that are suffering or facing any kind of hardship.

  2. Pray for the world! What are you grateful for about the world? What does the world need? Pray for nations that are facing any kind of hardship, including war, sickness, injustice, or food insecurity. Pray for our particular nation, and for our leaders and specific needs as a country.

  3. Finally, pray for our own community! What are you grateful for about your own family, friends, and town? What needs are you aware of? Keep in mind what's gone out in the prayer chain this week. Feel free to pray for people by name and specific circumstances. Consider reaching out to them after worship as well.

  4. Close by reciting the Lord’s Prayer
